Vision for creating a disaster-resistant capital city, “Tokyo” New approach and policy review working group
The national government and Tokyo Metropolitan Government will cooperate on both the hard and soft aspects to strongly promote disaster prevention urban development.
In March 2025, four years after the formulation and publication of the “Vision for Creating a Disaster-Resilient Capital, Tokyo” (formulated in December 2020, hereinafter referred to as the “Vision”), the “Liaison Conference for Creating a Disaster-Resilient Capital, Tokyo” was relaunched to share the results and knowledge gained to date and to deepen discussions on new policies and initiatives triggered by the damage caused by the earthquake and heavy rains that occurred on the Noto Peninsula, and to proceed with consideration of revising the Vision.
Based on this, and taking into account the progress made since the vision was formulated, changes in social conditions, and issues that have become clear due to the disaster on the Noto Peninsula, the first working group meeting will be held as described below, with the aim of considering response measures for floods, earthquakes, complex disasters, etc. in the capital, Tokyo.
