Great East Japan Earthquake Recovery and Beyond 2026 Event
As we approach the 15th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake, reconstruction in the affected areas is progressing steadily. However, as time passes, memories of the disaster and interest in the affected areas are fading, raising concerns that the disaster is fading from memory.
Tokyo and the four Tohoku prefectures (Aomori, Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima) will hold the “Great East Japan Earthquake Forgetting Prevention Event” with the aim of preventing the disaster from fading from memory. With the catchphrase “Connecting Feelings, Beyond,” the event will convey gratitude for the reconstruction support provided, as well as share information on the reconstruction status and appeal of the affected areas, as well as disaster prevention information.
Specialties and local sake from the four Tohoku prefectures will be on sale, and there will be talks by storytellers sharing their experiences of the disaster. Actors and entertainers from Fukushima Prefecture will also be in attendance to talk about their feelings for Tohoku.
