The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is implementing the “Project to Promote the Development of Technology to Solve Hydrogen Implementation Issues in Tokyo” to further promote the use of hydrogen by conducting research, development, and demonstration of technologies that solve issues related to the utilization of hydrogen.
This fiscal year, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government began accepting proposals from private companies and other entities in July regarding the development of technologies and products that will further accelerate the social implementation of hydrogen in Tokyo. We are now pleased to announce that we have decided on the technology development projects that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and private companies will work on together.

(Project 1) Demonstration and dissemination of pressure vessel inspection methods to reduce operating costs of hydrogen stations

Overview

The effectiveness of Acoustic Emission testing, a new testing method for hydrogen station accumulators, will be verified and understood. In addition, activities will be carried out to raise awareness of this testing method in order to reduce the operating costs of hydrogen stations.

An inspection method that uses sensors to capture sound waves generated when materials or structures deform, and evaluates for internal abnormalities or damage.

(Project 2) Development of high-pressure, lightweight hydrogen curdles, establishment of hydrogen filling facilities, and social implementation through hydrogen supply, etc.

Overview

We will develop a portable, lightweight cardle equipped with a lightweight, high-pressure refillable general composite container, and through its use, conduct a social demonstration to promote the widespread use of hydrogen.
