Formulated a “Basic Plan for the Development of a New Disaster Prevention Base in the Tama Region”
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government operates the Tachikawa Regional Disaster Prevention Center and the Tama Wide-Area Disaster Prevention Warehouse as disaster prevention bases in the Tama region to effectively gather information and stockpile supplies in the event of a disaster.
In recent years, concerns have grown over natural disasters such as earthquakes directly beneath the capital, large-scale wind and flood damage, and complex disasters. At the same time, the external environment surrounding disaster response measures has changed dramatically, with advances in digital transformation and consideration for the environment. Strengthening measures is therefore an urgent need to protect the lives of Tokyo residents from all types of disasters.
In light of this situation, and in order to enhance disaster response capabilities throughout Tokyo, we formulated the “Basic Concept for the Development of New Disaster Prevention Bases in the Tama Region” in November 2024 for the Tachikawa Regional Disaster Prevention Center and the Tama Wide-Area Disaster Prevention Warehouse. We are now pleased to announce that we have formulated a basic plan based on this concept, which includes the specific functions and construction plans of the new disaster prevention bases.
