We are launching a program of individual visits to apartment buildings to promote seismic retrofitting (including the dispatch of experts at no cost)
Since apartment buildings serve as homes for many Tokyo residents and are directly linked to their safety and peace of mind, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is working to improve the seismic resistance of these buildings.Through systems such as the management status reporting system—based on the “Ordinance on the Promotion of Proper Management of Apartment Buildings in Tokyo”—the Metropolitan Government assesses the current status of apartment buildings and dispatches experts, such as architects, to support the building of consensus toward seismic retrofitting.
Over the next five years, starting in Reiwa 8, we will conduct individual visits in collaboration with city and ward governments to approximately 3,700 apartment buildings identified through the reporting system and other means as having not yet undergone seismic safety assessments, with the aim of further promoting seismic retrofitting.
During these visits, we will conduct simple visual inspections of the exterior, provide advice on seismic retrofitting—including seismic assessments—and introduce support programs such as the free expert dispatch system. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
