“2024 Urban Pre-Reconstruction Symposium” will be held!
In order to ensure smooth urban reconstruction in the event of a major earthquake or other disaster in Tokyo, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has been holding symposiums in which Tokyo residents can participate since fiscal 2000, providing an opportunity for the citizens to think together about how to develop post-disaster urban reconstruction.
This time, the theme will be “30 years since the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake: Then and Now,” and we will hear a lecture from Hata Fumitaka, a recovery and reconstruction urban reconstruction supporter and former Nishinomiya city employee. In addition, we will have a discussion with Nakabayashi Kazuki, professor emeritus at Tokyo Metropolitan University, and Sasaki Shoji, executive director of the Land Research Institute and former Cabinet Office Disaster Prevention Counselor, to discuss preparations for the upcoming Tokyo earthquake.
