Water transportation training will be conducted using the disaster prevention wharf
Tokyo will conduct water transportation training in cooperation with local wards and related organizations to ensure reliable water transportation in the event of a disaster.
Tokyo residents are also welcome to participate in the water bus transportation training, so please apply.
- Purpose
To contribute to the smooth transportation of emergency supplies, medical supplies, and personnel in the event of a disaster, we will check the communication system of related organizations and conduct water transportation training to improve emergency response capabilities.

(1) Route A: Material transport training using a houseboat
Takahashi (Koto Ward) → Yumenoshima Pier (Koto Ward)
(2) Route B: Material and personnel transport training using a water taxi
Ariake Passenger Ship Terminal (Koto Ward) → Shiomi Sports Park (Koto Ward) → Asashio Canal (Chuo Ward)
(3) Route C: Material transport training using a water bus

*Transfer to Hakozakicho from Hamamachi (Chuo Ward) by water bus
(4) Route D: Personnel transport training using a water bus

5 Recruiting participants for water bus transportation training
We are looking for people who can participate in various training using water buses (materials transportation training (route C), personnel transportation training (route D)).
(1) Content
- Gather at Hamamachi Disaster Prevention Wharf, board the water bus, and then move to Hakozakicho Disaster Prevention Wharf. After arriving, the training will begin.
*The material transportation training and personnel transportation training will be conducted consecutively with the same participants.
It is not possible to participate in only one of the two.
[Route C] Observation of material transportation training (Hakozakicho → Harumi 5-chome)
You will be able to observe the transportation training, such as loading emergency supplies, until you reach Harumi 5-chome Disaster Prevention Wharf, where you plan to disembark.
[Route D] Participate in personnel transport training (Harumi 5-chome → Hamamachi)
Participate in personnel transport training from Harumi 5-chome Disaster Prevention Wharf to Hamamachi Disaster Prevention Wharf.
(2) Target applicants and number of applicants
25 people aged 6 or older who live, work, or study in Tokyo
*Elementary school students and younger may board the ship accompanied by a guardian.
*If only junior high school students or groups are boarding the ship, parental consent is required at the time of application.
(3) Application requirements
A. Ability to follow instructions from crew and guides on board
B. Ability to cooperate in answering a questionnaire after boarding
*Those under the age of 6 are not required to answer the questionnaire.
(4) Application period
From Monday, January 6, 2025 to Monday, January 20, 2025

If the number of applicants exceeds the capacity, a lottery will be held and the winners will be notified by email by Friday, January 24th.
(6) Meeting and Disbanding Location
Hamamachi Disaster Prevention Boat Wharf (1 Nihonbashi Hamamachi, Chuo-ku)
6 minutes on foot from Hamamachi Station on the subway
(7) Other
A. Participation is free. However, each participant is responsible for their own transportation costs to the wharf.
B. If you use a wheelchair, please contact us at the time of application.
- Regarding Cancellation of Training and Change of Training Content
(1) In the event of a worsening of the weather due to heavy rain or other rain, or a weather disaster is expected, the training may be canceled or the training content may be changed.
(2) Regarding the transportation training using the water bus, depending on the tide level on the day, the trip may be canceled even after you have gathered. Please be aware of this.
