Selected projects to be eligible for the Regional Development Project Subsidy
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is implementing a “Subsidy Program for Local Community Development Projects” to support projects undertaken by neighborhood associations and local community councils, which are the driving forces behind local activities. We are pleased to announce that the second subsidy recipients for this fiscal year have been decided as follows.
The projects covered this time included creative initiatives such as projects that encourage the younger generation to actively participate in local events and projects that promote interaction with foreign residents in the area.
The number of applications for the second round was 365, approximately 1.2 times the number of applications submitted last year (315).

Lecture on children’s sleep (No. 10 Bunkyo Ward: Hayashicho Minamicho Association)
In cooperation with nearby nurseries and kindergartens, we will hold lectures by experts on the importance of sleep in children’s development, aiming to resolve the concerns of families with small children and to raise awareness of support for child-rearing households throughout the community (held in November 2025).
Town beautification project through mural art and graffiti removal (No. 62 Meguro Ward: Kamihachicho Association)
In order to solve the problem of graffiti on the streets, which is an issue in the area, we will promote the prevention of graffiti through graffiti removal and mural art activities by children attending local schools, and will also raise awareness of beautifying the town, mainly among children, and spread it throughout the entire area. (Implemented in September 2025)
Sports day combined with disaster prevention training (No.65 Ota Ward: Kamata Higashi District Residents’ Association)
An athletic meet incorporating elements of disaster prevention training will be held under the title “Mamorimpikku Kamata Higashi.” Foreign residents appointed by the ward as international city Ota ambassadors will also be invited to the athletic meet, aiming not only to deepen ties in the community, but also to improve the area’s disaster prevention capabilities and awareness of multicultural coexistence. (To be held in October 2025)
Children’s Festival: Energizing the Community with Children (No.267 Mitaka City: Osawahara Town Association)
Local junior high school students will be involved in the festival from the planning stage, interacting with local adults from a young age and deepening their understanding of local activities. In addition, the festival will provide a venue for local traditional performing arts and performance groups to perform, stimulating local exchange and passing on the traditions to the next generation. (To be held in July 2025)
