Establishment of the Earthquake-Resistance Renovation Promotion Plan Review Committee

Earthquake

Based on the Act on Promotion of Earthquake-Resistant Renovation of Buildings, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has formulated the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Earthquake-Resistant Renovation Promotion Plan (hereinafter referred to as the “Plan”) with the aim of promoting the earthquake-resistant renovation of buildings in a planned and comprehensive manner. As the current plan period ends at the end of fiscal year 2025, we have decided to begin consideration of revising the Plan.
In order to consider the opinions of academic experts and others in the review, we would like to announce that we will establish the “Tokyo Metropolitan Government Earthquake Retrofit Promotion Plan Review Committee” (hereinafter referred to as the “Committee”) as follows:

1 Date of installation

July 18, 2025

2 Committee members

Fumiko Ito, Professor, Faculty of Urban Environmental Studies, Tokyo Metropolitan University
Toshihiro Osaragi, Professor, School of Environment and Society, Tokyo
Takaaki Kato, Professor, Institute of Industrial Science, University of Tokyo
*If necessary, opinions from persons other than the committee members may be sought.

3 Others

The committee’s deliberations will include non-disclosure information as stipulated in each item of Article 7 of the Tokyo Information Disclosure Ordinance, and therefore the committee’s meetings will be held in private.
The agenda and minutes of the meetings will be made public on the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Earthquake Portal Site after each committee meeting, and the materials will be made public after the plan is revised. However, if the chairman deems it necessary, some parts of the meetings may not be made public.

This project is an initiative to promote the “Tokyo 2050 Strategy.
Strategy 21: Strengthening cities: “Promoting urban development that will not collapse and can be survived”
