Tokyo Consortium for Promoting Measures Against Liquefaction in Buildings

Earthquake

The “Estimated Damage to Tokyo in the Event of an Earthquake Directly Beneath the Capital,” published in May 2022, indicates that liquefaction could cause damage to up to 1,549 buildings completely destroyed and 9,438 buildings partially destroyed, necessitating measures to be taken by building owners and constructors.
For this reason, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government established a consortium in November 2024 with the aim of collaborating with private businesses and others to comprehensively promote liquefaction countermeasures.
The consortium’s first meeting of fiscal year 2025 will be held on this occasion.
