We would like to announce that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has approved the establishment of the Ikebukuro Honcho 4-1 and 4-2 District Disaster Prevention Block Development Association, in accordance with Article 136, Paragraph 1 of the Act on Promotion of Disaster Prevention Block Development in Densely Populated Urban Areas, as follows.

1 Project effects

(1)Eliminating overcrowding by sharing buildings

The subdivided land and remaining private roads resulting from the construction of Auxiliary Route 82 will be consolidated through joint ownership, and fireproof buildings will be constructed to ensure rational and healthy use of the land.

(2)Improving disaster prevention capabilities

The project aims to improve the disaster prevention capabilities of the area by upgrading the densely packed old wooden houses to fireproof and earthquake-resistant buildings, and by installing manhole toilets and disaster prevention wells in the plaza on the premises.

(3)Creating a living hub in front of the station and improving the living environment

We will develop commercial and lifestyle support functions and urban housing to enhance local services, create a lifestyle exchange hub in front of the station, and improve the living environment in the area.
