Work begins on Fuchu Line 3, 4, and 3 Komae-Kunitachi Line (Phase 1)
To further develop the Tama region, Tokyo is promoting the development of regional trunk roads that will form a road network alongside the main trunk roads, ensuring smooth traffic in the region and improving disaster prevention and safety.
We are pleased to announce that January 5 we have received approval for urban planning projects from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for the following routes and will begin construction.
| Route name | Enforcement location | Extension | Planned width | Business period | Business expenses | Office in charge |
| Fuchu 3, 4, 3 Komae-Kunitachi Line | Fuchu City, Koremasa 3-chome to Minamimachi 1-chome | 1,285 meters | 20 meters to 32.5 meters | 2025-2039 | 26.4 billion yen | Kitatama Southern Construction Office |
Business overview
The Fuchu 3/4/3 Komae-Kunitachi Line is an urban planning road stretching approximately 8.5 kilometers from Osatate-cho 4-chome in Fuchu City to Yotsuya 6-chome in the same city.
Of these, this project involves constructing a new road with a planned width of 20 to 32.5 meters in a section of approximately 1.3 kilometers from Fuchu-kaido to Kaede-dori (see attached guide map (PDF: 488KB)). The road will have two lanes, with sidewalks and bicycle lanes on both sides, and utility poles will be removed and roadside trees will be planted. At intersections with the JR Nambu Line, Musashino Line, and other lines, an underpass will be constructed, allowing the road to pass under the railways, and side roads will be constructed in the trenches to ensure access from the roadside.
Business effects
- 1)The east-west road network in the region will be strengthened to ensure smooth traffic flow.
- 2)Safe and comfortable walking and cycling spaces will be secured, improving the safety of the area.
- 3)Evacuation routes will be secured in the event of a disaster, improving the disaster prevention capabilities of the region.
This project is an initiative to promote the “Tokyo 2050 Strategy.”
Strategy 18: Infrastructure and Transportation: “Creating a road environment that supports safe, secure, and comfortable daily life”
