Seeking certified businesses to promote the removal of utility poles in residential development

Earthquake Volcanic eruption Wind and flood damage

Tokyo is promoting the elimination of utility poles at every opportunity in urban development, with the aim of creating a safe and secure city.
In residential development, efforts have been made to “prevent the increase in utility poles,” including providing subsidies for project costs and setting up consultation desks to provide know-how on how to eliminate utility poles.
We would like to inform you that we have established a certification system for businesses with the aim of increasing the number of businesses that are working to remove utility poles in residential development and promoting this widespread practice, and that we are now accepting applications for certification.

1 System overview

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will certify businesses that promote the elimination of utility poles in residential land development, and will promote awareness of the elimination of utility poles in residential land development by publishing the names of certified businesses and examples of their initiatives on its website.
In addition, as proof that companies have endorsed the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s efforts and promoted the removal of utility poles in residential development, they will be given a certified logo mark (with a registration number) featuring a motif of a pole-free streetscape. The certified logo mark can be used on business cards and other items to improve the company’s image.
