Fiscal Year 2026 Grant for the Establishment of Disaster Preparedness Storage Facilities for Neighborhood Associations and Residents' Associations
Continuing from last fiscal year, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will implement the “Grant Program for the Establishment of Disaster Preparedness Storage Warehouses for Neighborhood Associations and Residents’ Associations” to support the purchase or repair of such warehouses. This initiative aims to bolster local stockpiling infrastructure and enable mutual aid to take effect during disasters.
This grant program aims to support the development of storage facilities for disaster prevention equipment and supplies. It seeks to bolster community disaster preparedness—an area of growing concern following events such as the Noto Peninsula Earthquake—and to facilitate mutual aid in times of crisis.
1. Target Organizations and Planned Numbers
Individual neighborhood associations located within Tokyo : 200 associations*
*This applies to organizations that are registered and recognized as neighborhood associations by the relevant wards, cities, or towns—such as those that have filed the necessary paperwork with local authorities and are listed in official registries.
*Neighborhood associations that received this grant in fiscal year 2025 are not eligible to apply.
2. Eligible Expenses
Costs associated with the installation or repair of disaster preparedness storage facilities
*This includes the purchase price of the facility itself , as well as various expenses related to transportation, installation, construction, and removal, and costs associated with building permits.
*This grant is intended for the storage of equipment and materials; facilities used to store food and other supplies are not eligible.
3. Grant Amount
Up to 700,000 yen. 10% of eligible expenses.
* If any expenses are eligible for, or are already receiving, subsidies under programs administered by the national government or other local governments, the total grant amount may not exceed the sum of the eligible expenses and 700,000 yen.
