Interest Subsidy Grant for Rebuilding Private Homes in Densely Populated Wooden Housing Areas
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is offering interest subsidies on loans from financial institutions to homeowners who rebuild their existing homes into fire-resistant or quasi-fire-resistant structures, with the aim of promoting the conversion of densely populated wooden housing areas to non-combustible structures.
We are pleased to announce that applications for the fiscal year 2026 program are now being accepted as detailed below.
1. Application Period
From Monday, May 18, 2026, to Friday, February 26, 2027
2. Number of Units Available
5 units (Applications will close once the quota is reached.)
3. Eligibility Requirements
The applicant must be rebuilding a fire-resistant or quasi-fire-resistant single-family residence in a district that meets one of the following criteria [Note 1]. Furthermore, the applicant must not be in arrears on prefectural or municipal taxes.
- 1) Development areas designated under the Disaster-Resilient City Development Promotion Plan
- 2) Priority Development Areas designated in the Disaster-Resilient City Development Promotion Plan
- 3) Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Dense Wooden Housing Area Improvement Project Zones

4. Details of the Interest Subsidy
1) Interest Subsidy Period
10 years
2) Interest subsidy amount
An amount equivalent to 1% of the user contribution rate [Note 2] (or the actual rate if less than 1%)
[Note 2] The user fee rate varies depending on the financial institution, the type of interest rate, and the timing.
