We’re holding the “Apartment Building Disaster Prevention Initiative Awards”!
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is launching the “Apartment Complex Disaster Preparedness Initiative Awards” to solicit a wide range of disaster preparedness initiatives from apartment complexes, recognize outstanding efforts, and widely publicize these initiatives—with the aim of promoting disaster preparedness in apartment complexes and enhancing community disaster resilience.
1. Business Overview
(1) Overview
In Tokyo, approximately 9 million residents live in apartment buildings and other multi-unit housing.
In the event of a large-scale disaster, it is often possible to take shelter in place in earthquake-resistant apartment buildings, making it important to promote self-help and mutual aid initiatives on a daily basis and to strengthen cooperation with the local community.
Through this awards program, we are soliciting initiatives that contribute to creating an environment conducive to sheltering in place and promoting disaster preparedness in condominiums, and we will recognize these efforts and publicize them through a compilation of best practices and other materials.
