Applications are now being accepted for the 2026 “Papa Mama Tokyo Disaster Prevention Outreach Classes”.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will be holding the “Papa Mama Tokyo Disaster Prevention Outreach Classroom,” where groups of parents can easily learn about disaster prevention knowledge and how to prepare to protect their children from disasters, as detailed below.
1 Recruitment target
Groups of 10 or more parents of children from 0 years old to elementary school age, such as moms and dads from daycare centers and kindergartens in Tokyo, parenting circles, and PTAs.
2 Application period
- First term: April 7th (Tuesday), 2026 – June 1st (Monday), 2026
- Second term: August 3rd (Monday), 2026 – October 2nd (Friday), 2026
3 Implementation period
- First term: June 14th (Sunday), 2026 – October 23rd (Friday), 2026
- Second term: October 24, 2026 (Saturday) – March 7, 2027 (Sunday)
4 Number of organizations recruiting
A total of 100 groups across both phases. *If there are many applicants, a lottery will be held.
5 Time
Choose from two courses (60 minutes or 90 minutes).
6 Lecturer
Experts familiar with disaster preparedness for parents and children
7 How to attend
- This format involves both participants and instructors joining online from their homes or other locations.
- In this format, participants and instructors gather at a venue arranged by the group.
8 Content
You can learn about disaster prevention knowledge and preparations to protect children from disasters.
(Examples: Proper evacuation during disasters, securing furniture and appliances, stockpiling baby supplies, etc.)
9 Cost
Free
*Participants are responsible for all communication costs related to online connection and venue arrangements (including usage fees, etc.).
