Regarding the formulation of the “Guidelines for the Utilization of Water Supply Data in Local Government Disaster Prevention Operations”
The Waterworks Bureau has formulated the “Guidelines for the Utilization of Waterworks Data in Municipal Disaster Prevention Operations” (hereinafter referred to as “these guidelines”), and we would like to inform you of this.
In recent years, the introduction of smart meters has been accelerating among water utilities nationwide. The hourly data obtained from these smart meters (hereinafter referred to as “water usage data”) is expected to be used not only to improve the efficiency of automatic meter reading, but also to address administrative challenges in areas such as disaster prevention and welfare.
This manual outlines specific use cases for water usage data in disaster prevention, along with the necessary legal basis and operational flows for their implementation. We hope that this manual will be utilized by water utilities nationwide, thereby promoting the widespread adoption of smart meters and accelerating the use of water usage data in disaster prevention.
In actual operation, it is necessary to create a usage manual tailored to the specific circumstances of each water utility, taking into account the system development status and other factors, using this guide as a reference.
