Call for participants for seminar on how to respond to foreign tourists during disasters

This seminar will allow tourism business operators to learn about how to respond to earthquakes and floods and how to prepare for them on a daily basis from the experiences of accommodation business operators who have actually experienced disasters. We look forward to your participation!

1)Response and lessons learned from the Noto Peninsula earthquake: Kagaya Ryokan’s efforts in Wakura Onsen
When the Noto Peninsula earthquake struck on New Year’s Day in 2024, Kagaya quickly guided 400 guests to evacuation shelters and completed assistance in helping everyone return home the next day. We will talk about the situation at the time and the everyday preparations that were helpful.

2)Responses and lessons learned from the Kumamoto earthquake and the flooding of the Kuma River: Initiatives at Hitoyoshi Ryokan
We will learn about specific responses and preparations to protect the safety of guests from earthquakes and floods, based on lessons learned at Hitoyoshi Ryokan, which experienced both the Kumamoto earthquake (2016) and the flooding of the Kuma River due to heavy rain (2020).

3)Learning from disaster response cases: Actions and preparations for emergencies
