Waterways That Connect, Smiles That Spread: Tokyo’s Rivers

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is organizing various events related to river conservation to help residents develop a sense of familiarity and affection for Tokyo’s rivers. We are pleased to announce that we will be holding “Let’s Walk Along the River” and “Facility Tours,” so please join us! (Free admission)
Call for Participants in “Let’s Walk Along the River”
We’ll be holding five tours in October. As we walk along the river, we’ll provide commentary on the river’s current state, its history, and river management. Participants will receive original merchandise as a gift!

Call for Participants: “Facility Tour”
We will be holding a “facility tour” of the Ring Road No. 7 Underground Regulation Reservoir in October. Our staff will be on site to explain the facility’s role and how it works. Participants will receive original merchandise as a gift!

We will tour a flood control retention basin located approximately 45 meters below Ring Road No. 7, which is 12.5 meters in diameter and 4.5 kilometers long.
[Note] As a general rule, visitors must use stairs to ascend and descend to the underground tunnel (equivalent to the 14th floor of a building; 222 steps).

Important Notes
- Please meet at the location. Please use public transportation to get to the tour venue.
- There will be some stair climbing involved. Please wear comfortable clothing and non-slip shoes.
- We expect the number of applicants to exceed the number of available spots, so a lottery will likely be held. Please refrain from canceling on the day of the event.
- Please note that events may be canceled or modified due to weather or other circumstances. We appreciate your understanding.
- We will notify you of the lottery results regardless of whether you were selected or not. In the unlikely event that you have not received notification by 10 days prior to the event date, please contact the Planning Section of the Rivers Division, Bureau of Construction, at 03-5320-5425.
