Paintings and essays on landslide prevention (Construction Bureau)
June is Landslide Prevention Month!
Call for paintings and essays and panel exhibition on prevention of landslide disasters
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and prefectural governments have designated June as “Landslide Disaster Prevention Month” to deepen public interest and understanding in preventing landslides and mitigating damage.
The torrential rains in July 2020 caused landslides in 37 prefectures in Japan, the largest number in Japan’s history, as well as the largest number since the end of June 1999, and took many precious lives and property.
As part of the activities to promote the awareness of this month, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government invites elementary and junior high school students, who will be the leaders of tomorrow, to submit paintings and essays on landslide disaster prevention as follows.
In addition, a panel exhibition for Landslide Prevention Month will be held at two locations in Tokyo.
