Certified solar power generation system with superior functionality

Power and Communications

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government certifies solar power generation systems (functional PV) that possess superior functionality to meet the unique conditions of urban areas, and provides additional subsidies to the residential solar power generation system subsidy program. We are pleased to announce that, from among the products that applied for certification in fiscal year 2025, functional PV systems have been certified and will be eligible for additional subsidies in the fiscal year 2026 subsidy program.
In addition, this time we have also certified new products such as “damage-resistant (glass products) and small size” and “damage-resistant (glass products) and integrated into building materials (roofs).”
In addition, the additional subsidy amount will be increased to a maximum of 100,000 yen per kilowatt.

1 Certification of a solar power generation system with superior functionality

(1)Certified products

We have certified 367 solar power generation system products that possess superior functionality.
Details of the certified products are available on Cool Net Tokyo’s business website.

(3)Main revisions to the standards for certification in fiscal year 2025

The “Standards for Photovoltaic Power Generation Systems with Superior Functionality” for certification were revised on January 13, 2026, based on market trends, etc., and the following new categories were established to promote the widespread use of products that combine dust prevention and other functions.

  • Splash-proof type (glass products) and small size (polygonal (excluding squares), building material type)
  • Splash-proof (glassware) and small (rectangular)
  • Rainproof type (glass product) and integrated into building materials (roof)

*These standards are published on Cool Net Tokyo’s business website.

2 Supplementary subsidies in each subsidy program

For products certified as having superior functionality as solar power generation systems, an additional subsidy of 100,000 yen, 80,000 yen, 50,000 yen, 20,000 yen, or 10,000 yen per kilowatt is planned for the residential solar power generation system subsidy program starting in fiscal year 2026. Details will be announced separately for each subsidy program.
