We are soliciting comments on the River Improvement Plan (Draft Amendment)

Wind and flood damage

In preparation for future climate change, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will revise the river improvement plans for the Shinkashi, Shirako, and Yanase River basins, as well as the Shibuya, Furukawa, and Nomigawa River basins.
These river improvement plans outline the measures the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will implement over the next 30 years regarding flood control, water resource management, and environmental protection.
Accordingly, in connection with these revisions, we are soliciting opinions from Tokyo residents as outlined below.

1. Implementation Period

From Wednesday, July 1, Reiwa 8, to Friday, July 31, Reiwa 8
*The draft amendment is available for public review only during office hours.

2. Target Rivers

The Shinkashi River, Shirako River, and Yanase River basins; the Shibuya River, Furukawa River, and Nomigawa River basins

3. Locations for Viewing the Plan (Draft Amendment) and Distributing Brochures

  • (1) Department of Public Works Website
  • (2) “River Information Desk,” Rivers Division, Bureau of Construction (6th Floor, Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building No. 2)
  • (3) Relevant ward and city offices, and relevant construction offices

4. How to Submit Comments

  • (2) By mail or email (Postmarks or receipt dates up to and including Friday, July 31 are valid.)

5. Other

  • The Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s views on the comments received and how they have been incorporated into the plan will be posted on the Bureau of Construction’s website when the plan is announced.
  • Please note that we will not be providing individual responses to your comments.
  • We do not accept feedback in person or by phone.

This project is an initiative to promote the “Tokyo 2050 Strategy.”
