The Sewerage Bureau is engaged in sewerage education initiatives designed to help children learn about the urban water environment and the water cycle while fostering a sense of familiarity with the role of the sewer system.
As part of these efforts , we will be holding the “Children’s Sewer Adventure Tour” during summer vacation, where children can have fun while learning about the role of the sewer system and the water environment.We look forward to your applications

“Kids’ Sewer Adventure Tour” Overview

1. Date and Time of the Event

A total of four sessions: Friday, August 14, Saturday, August 15, Sunday, August 23, and Monday, August 24, Reiwa 8. *Events will be held rain or shine.

Gathering

12:00 p.m. (tentative) — Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building Large Parking Lot

Dissolution

5:00 p.m. (scheduled) — “Hinode Pier,” water bus disembarkation point

Itinerary

Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building ⇒ Ariake Water Recycling Center ⇒ Tokyo Metropolitan “Niji no Shitōsūdokan” ⇒ Board the water bus ⇒ End of tour

*We will travel between the tour sites by chartered bus.
Additionally, we will travel from the final tour site to the drop-off point by chartered water bus.

2. Facilities Open to Visitors

Ariake Water Recycling Center

The Water Recycling Center is presented as the secret base of the Water Environment Defense Force.
Visitors can carry out missions displayed on digital signage alongside the characters and, as new recruits, learn how contaminated water is purified.

Tokyo Metropolitan Rainbow Sewer Museum

Set in “Rainbow Town,” visitors can experience the work of the sewer system firsthand in places normally off-limits—such as sewer pipes, pumping stations, the central control room at the water reclamation center, and the water quality testing lab—and have fun learning about the role of the sewer system and the importance of the water environment.

3. Eligibility and Number of Participants

Elementary school students residing or attending school in Tokyo and their guardians (one child and one guardian per pair)
30 pairs (60 people) per session (if there are more applicants than available spots, participants will be selected by lottery).

4. Application Period

From 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, Reiwa 8, to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22.
We plan to notify participants of their acceptance and provide further details via email by Friday, July 31.

Highlights from the Reiwa 7 “Children’s Sewer Adventure Tour”

The event was held on Friday, August 15, Sunday, August 17, Tuesday, August 19, and Saturday, August 23, Reiwa 7, and 210 people participated over the four days.

The 25th “Elementary School Students’ Sewer Research Report Contest” (Press release issued on June 30, Reiwa 8)

We are accepting submissions in three categories—newspapers, posters, and slogans—from fourth-grade elementary school students living or attending school in Tokyo, focusing on what they have noticed, understood, and should do regarding the sewer system.
